Pimple Between Eyebrows: Causes and How to Clear It
A pimple between the eyebrows is usually caused by excess oil in the T-zone, clogged pores, or irritation from threading, waxing, hair products or touching your face. It rarely signals a liver or digestive problem. Cleanse twice daily, use 2% salicylic acid, avoid squeezing, and see a doctor if it is large or painful.
A spot right in the middle of your forehead is hard to hide, and that is exactly why so many people end up squeezing it. This small area, called the glabella, has plenty of oil glands and takes a lot of touching and product transfer. Here is why you get pimples there, what actually clears them, and which bumps in this area are not acne at all.
Do pimples keep coming back between your brows?
Our Clear Skin Duo pairs an Acne Relief Face Wash with an Acne Relief Serum, so 2% Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide work on oily pores in two steps: cleanse, then treat.

Pimples form here for the same reason they form anywhere: oil and dead skin block a pore, and bacteria and inflammation follow. This particular spot just has more triggers than most.
- Oily T-zone. The forehead and nose have some of the highest densities of oil glands on the face, and the area between your brows sits right where they meet.
- Threading, waxing and plucking. Hair removal between the brows opens up follicles and can leave them inflamed. Small bumps here a day or two later are often folliculitis, not true acne.
- Hair products and hair oil. Oil, gels and serums travel down the forehead, especially with sweat and fringes. See does hair oil cause acne.
- Makeup and brow products. Heavy foundation, brow gels and pomades left on overnight can clog pores.
- Touching. Resting your forehead on your hand or rubbing your brows transfers oil and bacteria.
- Helmets, caps and headbands. Friction and trapped sweat cause acne mechanica across the forehead.
- Hormones and stress. These raise oil production generally, so they can add to a local problem, although hormonal acne tends to favour the jaw and chin.
Does a pimple between the eyebrows mean a liver problem?
No, there is no good evidence for that. Face maps claim this zone reflects the liver or digestion, and you will see this repeated widely, but clinical research does not support linking a single pimple to a specific organ. The likelier explanation is local: oil, products, hair removal and touching. Our guide to acne face mapping looks at what location can and cannot tell you.
Is it actually a pimple?
Several other bumps appear in this exact spot, and they need different care.
| What you see | Likely cause | What helps |
|---|---|---|
| Red, tender bump, sometimes with a whitehead | Pimple | Salicylic acid, leave it alone |
| Small flesh-coloured bumps, no redness | Closed comedones | Regular gentle exfoliation |
| Spots appearing a day or two after threading | Folliculitis or ingrown hair | Keep clean, pause hair removal |
| Greasy flakes and redness in the brows | Seborrheic dermatitis | See a dermatologist |
| Itch or dark patch where you wear a bindi | Bindi allergy | Stop using the adhesive, see a doctor |
| Deep, painful, growing swelling | Cyst or boil | See a doctor, do not squeeze |
How do you get rid of a pimple between your eyebrows?
Treat the area simply and give it time. Most individual pimples settle within about 3 to 7 days.
- Cleanse twice daily with a salicylic acid face wash, massaging for about 30 seconds and rinsing with lukewarm water.
- Apply a treatment. Smooth on a thin layer of 2% salicylic acid serum in the evening. It is oil-soluble, so it can work inside the pore. Keep it away from the eyes, and start with alternate nights if your skin is sensitive.
- Moisturise with a light, non-comedogenic formula. Dry skin does not clear faster, and over-drying only adds irritation.
- Cover it if you must touch it. A pimple patch protects a surface pimple from fingers and absorbs fluid. Our guide to pimple patches explains when they help.
- Use sunscreen in the morning. UV deepens the dark mark that a pimple leaves behind.
If several spots appear at once, treat the entire forehead rather than a single spot. See forehead acne for a full routine, and getting rid of a pimple overnight for what to do before an event.
Should you pop a pimple between your eyebrows?
It is best not to. Squeezing can push the contents deeper, prolong inflammation, and leave a dark mark in a very visible place. There are also delicate blood vessels and nerves around the brows and nose, and although serious complications are rare, an infection on this part of the face needs prompt attention. Read more in our guide to popping a pimple.
How do you stop these pimples from coming back?
- Wait before you apply actives after threading. Avoid acids and heavy makeup for about 24 hours. Ask for clean thread each time.
- Keep hair products off your forehead, and wash your hairline well when you shampoo. Oil-based hair treatments should come off before bed.
- Remove makeup fully every night, including brow products.
- Wash after sweating, and clean helmets, caps and headbands often.
- Watch your hands. Try not to rest your forehead on your palm during long hours at a desk.
- Be consistent. With twice-daily use of a salicylic acid wash and serum, expect fewer breakouts in about 2 weeks, with texture and marks improving by around 4 to 6 weeks.
When should you see a doctor?
See a dermatologist if a bump is large, very painful or keeps returning in the same spot, or if it has not improved after a few weeks. Get medical help promptly if you notice spreading redness, swelling around the eye, fever or severe headache alongside a spot, as these can mean an infection that needs treatment.
Frequently asked questions
What does a pimple between the eyebrows mean?
Usually, it means a blocked pore in an oily area, often helped along by hair removal, hair products or touching. It is not a reliable sign of a problem with your liver or digestion.
How long does a pimple between the eyebrows last?
Most last about 3 to 7 days. Deeper ones can take a couple of weeks, and any dark mark left behind may take several weeks or more to fade.
Can threading cause pimples between the eyebrows?
Yes. Threading can inflame follicles and may leave them open to bacteria, causing small bumps a day or two later. Keeping the area clean and avoiding makeup for a day usually helps.
Can I use salicylic acid between my eyebrows?
Yes, in a thin layer, while keeping it well away from your eyes. Avoid using it straight after threading or waxing, when skin is more sensitive.
Why does it hurt so much?
Skin here is thin and sits close to bone, so swelling has little room and can feel sharper. A very painful or growing bump is worth having checked.
